Bob Danford — co-owner of Silver Moon Kayak Company

Bob has paddled some form of non-motorized craft since he was a little wippersnapper. After buying his first kayak he has been hooked ever since.

When he's not kayaking or raising his 16 year old son Sammy, he's busy farming in the Lower Valley area in beautiful NW Montana. He's often fondly kidded about how he can quickly change from" Farmer Bob" in to "Boater Bob" in a matter of seconds! (overalls and rubber boots to Teva sandals and nylon shorts, basically) Bob brings a lot of skill, strength, wisdom and business sense to Silver Moon Kayak Company. But most of all, Bob's sense of humor and laid back nature puts our customers at ease.

Wearing a multiple of hats in the company, from chief boat washer to guide extraordinaire, to financial backer, you'll often find him building boat racks or repairing broken canoes or out on the water refining his moving water skills. Bob's favorite aspect of kayaking is whitewater and he heads up our Moving Water courses.

Susan Conrad — co-owner of Silver Moon Kayak Company

Susan knew from the moment she set foot in her first sea kayak that this sport was for her. An ACA certified Open Water/Coastal sea kayak instructor, she brings a uniformity, enthusiasm and high level of experience to our instructional programs. Susan is also certified in Wilderness First Aid and CPR, so she knows what to do if a situation arises.

Susan has a background in journalism, photography, desktop publishing and marketing and you can bet these skills are put to good use at Silver Moon. As a matter of fact, she designed this web site.

Linda Wysocki
- treasured seasonal employee

Linda hails from upstate N.Y. and can usually be found on the deck of an electro-fishing boat, sampling the fish of New York State for the Conservation Department. She spends her summers in Montana guiding and teaching for Silver Moon, so instead of just counting fish she gets to swim with them, too! Linda is an ACA-certified sea kayak instructor with an endorsement in Adaptive Paddling. Her ability to teach and connect with disabled paddlers is a unique asset to the sport of kayaking. Linda is also certified in Wilderness First Aid, CPR and is part of the N.Y. State Aquatic Water Safety Program. Along with her contagious smile, her energy and enthusiasm make her a favorite with Silver Moon guests! When she's not kayaking you'll probably find her coaxing her scarred knees and elbows over mountain paths on her mountain bike.

Did we mention she can back up a boat trailer like nobody's business?

Heather Roth - Bookkeeper and Office Manager

Heather also handles a lot of the behind-the-scenes work at Silver Moon, keeping things flowing smoothly. She's got the best phone voice going and has been a great asset to Silver Moon since she came on board.

Heather has two young children, Kaiya and Colton, and one kayak-addict husband named Jamie.

Becky Hardey
- Moonie guide and instructor

Becky is a certified day guide through the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of BC, and is also certified in Wilderness First Aid. Our beginning students and customers greatly appreciate Becky's patience and understanding towards newcomers to the wonderful world of paddling!

Sammy Danford
- child slave labor

Sammy has been kayaking since he was six years old, and now, a seasoned 16 year old, knows a high brace from a low brace, can roll his whitewater kayak, and can perform a solo deepwater rescue faster than you can say solo deepwater rescue. Subjected to never-ending kayaking videos instead of cartoons during his childhood, his boater vocabulary is frightening at times. You'll often find him around Silver Moon headquarters washing boats, moving gear, checking in inventory, getting into trouble with Linda, or just plain hanging out absorbing everything like a sponge.

Felix & Stealth - Incredibly Lazy Black Cats

These two sleek brothers were adopted by us a couple of winters ago and are true "shop kitties." They need to work on their mousing techniques, as it is in their job descriptions, but do seem perfectly happy lounging around watching us humans scurry from one task to another, wondering what all the fuss is.

Chance - New Moonie Mascot

Chance is the newest addition to MoonieLand and yes he has some ears to grow into! He's six months old, just graduated from obedience school and has LOTS of energy. He also has some big paws to fill as he is taking over Fox's duties, our Shetland Sheep Dog, who recently passed away.
